Thursday, July 18th at 7 PM: Mariel Boatlift - A Virtual Roundtable
Join us for a compelling virtual roundtable on Thursday, July 18 at 7:00 PM, marking 44 years since the Mariel Boatlift. Hosted by Phil Ehr, whose first Navy mission involved rescuing Cuban exiles during this pivotal event—a mission that coincided with the arrival of our special guest, Marcos Gonzalez, then a young boy. Moderated by Rolando Chang Barrero, President of the Democratic Hispanic Caucus of Florida, we'll explore the profound experiences of those affected, discuss the enduring influence on families, the challenges of stigma, and assess the Cuban-American community's perspective on local politics, examining what Democrats are doing well and areas for improvement.
